Fortune 100 Company Verizon Selects Orlando for Its New “Center of Excellence”
Verizon Communications originally looked at more than 300 locations across the nation before short-listing five communities which included Orlando. The company ultimately selected Orlando because of the robust business services industry and abundant talent pool, coupled with a location known for customer service excellence.

Verizon decided this was the best location for a facility that would centralize its accounting, finance and back office operations to improve processes, enhance service to internal and external customers and improve career and networking opportunities for employees. A key factor was also the availability of highly skilled talent to join Verizon’s CPA and legal tax teams.

The Orlando Economic Partnership (the Partnership) assembled experts groups and arranged informative meetings to educate Verizon on how Orlando offered the quality workforce and quality of life it was seeking for its 1,100 employees and $63 million capital investment.

Deloitte Consulting Opens Technology Delivery Center
In January 2013, the Orlando Economic Partnership (the Partnership) received a call from Deloitte Consulting LLP stating that they were conducting location analysis on the Orlando area for a client. The company was seeking a location to consolidate two other facilities in the United States as well as restore information technology jobs from overseas. It was vital to Deloitte that the location selected provide both the best and brightest talent pool in which to choose from. As it turns out, Deloitte revealed it was representing its own upcoming expansion.

After looking at nearly 400 locations across the nation before short-listing four prominent communities, the company ultimately selected Orlando based on the sizable available workforce and the high-level of collaboration and support from the business community. Deloitte is now working with the University of Central Florida to create tailored internship and cooperative learning programs for students, similar to the types of programs in place for other employers in the region, including both Lockheed Martin and Siemens Energy.
