As
Coordinator for the International Business Development
team, Zoraida Velasco is responsible for coordinating
high-profile inbound delegations, events, and trade missions
as well as managing the EDC’s Minority Channel initiative designed to recruit and retain minority and women-owned and led businesses. Moreover, she provides support to the Chief Operating Officer and is involved with the development of project proposals for potential expansions, relocation, or new-to-market companies by conducting market research on the current condition of local and international markets.
Prior to joining the EDC as an intern in 2006, Ms. Velasco
gained extensive international experience in France and Spain,
where she studied and completed internships.
Ms. Velasco is the founder and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Future Minority Leaders's, non-profit organization that helps students get involved in their professional fields through internships, mentoring and volunteering. Furthermore, she is a founding member and currently serves as Vice President for the Peruvian American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida, serves as the Membership Officer for Rotary E-club of Southeast USA and Caribbean. Additionally, she is also Board Member of the Hispanic-American Professional and Business Women Association and is an active member of Toastmasters Club 129. Ms. Velasco has been nominated for the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Award, is the recipient of the Women of Achievement Award for the Women's Executive Council, the youngest recipient to ever to receive a Beacon Award, celebrating diversity, and recently received La Prensa Newspaper’s Hispanic Women That Make a Difference Award.
