As
Vice President of Film & Digital
Media Development, also known worldwide in the industry
as the Metro Orlando Film & Entertainment Commission,
Suzy Spang Allen is charged with managing efforts
to market the region as a top production location. She also
works to
attract and grow Metro Orlando’s digital media and
entertainment sector by attracting new companies to the area
and working with
local companies looking to expand their operations.
Ms.
Spang Allen
joined the EDC in 1997 as a director on the film & digital
media development team. Since that time she has actively
worked on bringing productions to the area
such
as the critically-acclaimed
film "Monster;" the HBO series "From
the Earth to the Moon;"
a variety of discovery and learning-type shows for television
channels such as Animal Planet, TLC, A&E, and Home & Garden
Network; and a host of commercials shot for clients such
as Buick, Best Buy, Pepsi and American Express.
Before
joining the EDC, Ms.
Spang Allen was a freelance television and
film script supervisor and locations manager in Metro
Orlando for five years. In this role she worked on productions
such as "Marvin’s Room,” “Rosewood,” “Dead
Presidents,” “The Newz,” “Out of
the Blue” and various commercials and music videos.
Ms.
Spang Allen
is currently chairperson of the Valencia Community College
Digital Media Advisory Board and is the Secretary/Treasurer
of the Enzian Theatre Board. She currently sits on the Valencia
Community College Film 7 Television Advisory Board, Otronicon
Advisory Board and is a past event volunteer for PACE Center
for Girls. In 2000 she was named an “Up and Comer” by
the Orlando Business Journal. In 2006 She was named "40
under 40" by the Orlando Business Journal,
appointed by Mayor Buddy Dyer to co-chair the "Creative
Village" task
force for the City of Orlando and was appointed by Florida
Senate President Tom Lee to sit on the Florida Film and Entertainment
Advisory Council.
