John
Fremstad is the Vice President of Technology Industry Development
and the editor of TEXTURE magazine
for the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission (EDC).
His team is responsible for the growth, recruitment and incubation
of technology based companies. He is currently incubating
a new organization, bioOrlando, which is dedicated to accelerating
growth in the bio/life sciences industry making Central
Florida a preferred destination for healthcare, life science,
biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
Prior
to the EDC, Mr. Fremstad was a founding partner and vice
president of iplacement, Inc., a recruitment process outsourcing
(RPO) firm. iplacement has been named three times by Inc. magazine
as one of the 500 fastest growing privately held companies
in America.
As
the senior vice president for the Orlando Regional Chamber
of Commerce, he and his team directed all communications,
community relations and events for Florida’s largest
chamber. He also served as the publisher and columnist for
FirstMonday, an award-winning Central Florida business magazine.
Mr.
Fremstad was the founder & CEO of a firm that helped
create and define the images of numerous individuals and
organizations, including among others: The Rolling Stones,
Van Halen, Frank Sinatra, U.S. Senate and Congressional members,
Hilton Resorts and Hotels, the Noel Group and the U.S. Surf
Tour.
Mr. Fremstad has appeared on CNN, Entertainment Tonight
(ET), MSNBC, the Travel Channel and numerous news programs
throughout the world. Published in a wide variety of trade
and industry publications from Business Week and PollStar to the Journal
of Learning Disabilities, he continues to
be a featured speaker on economic, entertainment and political
trends.
Mr. Fremstad
has served on the board of directors of several organizations:
AthenaPowerLink, Association for Corporate
Growth (ACG), Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association,
Disney/SBA National Entrepreneur Center, Florida’s
BioTech Advisory Council, Florida Photonics Cluster Association,
JKC Consulting LLC, Leadership Orlando, Orlando Business
Journal’s Advisory Board Exchange, Orlando Fringe Festival,
Space Florida, University of Central Florida’s Technology
