The Metro Orlando Film Commission - a division of the EDC - is in the midst of the busiest season of the year for production. Currently, the film office is processing multiple permits per day, mainly for television commercials, our region's bread and butter for the film industry.
On Monday of last week alone, the film office processed seven new permits for television commercials filming this week and next. Filming is taking place everywhere across the Metro Orlando region - from Lake County to the residential streets of downtown Orlando.
All of this comes on the heels of Orlando Film Commissioner Sheena Fowler returning from attending major television conferences NATPE (television programming) and RealScreen (non-scripted television) in January. At both conferences, Sheena met with several major cable television executives, producers and network executives to discuss the advantages of filming in Central Florida.
The result? Three production companies have already taken advantage of the Metro Orlando Film Commission's services and are here filming now.
Recent film and television activity:
- "All's Fair, but Some is Frowned Upon" (short film) filmed at University High School and should be complete in March. The film will show at local film festivals.
- "A Place in the Sun - Winter Sun" (TV program) filmed throughout Celebration, Lake County and Osceola County. The show follows people from the United Kingdom in search of their holiday dream home.
- Visit Orlando hosted Canada's number one morning TV show, "Breakfast Television". The show shot live from Universal Orlando, Lake Eola and Disney's Magic Kingdom.
