Orlando, Fla. - Convergys, a global customer management firm, announced today the expansion of its customer service/contact center in Orlando by adding 155 new jobs over the next three years. The company currently has about 1,900 employees in the Orlando region and recently moved in to 16,000 square feet from an existing building, owned by Convergys, located next to its Seminole County location to accommodate the expansion.

Convergys is a global company with 125,000 employees working in more than 150 service centers throughout 31 countries. Convergys provides solutions including technical support, outbound services, sales, analytics and back office support among others.

“Convergys is proud to be an active member of the Orlando community,” said Jeff Ilano, Convergys Orlando site director. “During this time we have grown along with the city and the state. We believe that it is important not only to make an investment in our people, but as well in our facility and our community. We want to recognize every one of our talented employees for the difference they make for Convergys and the Orlando community every day.”

“The business services sector is our fastest growing sector behind leisure and hospitality,” said Rick Weddle, Orlando EDC president and CEO. “We’re seeing both new and existing companies, like Convergys, expanding in large part because of Orlando’s rich talent pool and customer service savvy.”

“For almost 20 years Convergys has been a global leader for business processing and also a leader in Seminole County with a commitment to community through its employee initiatives that support a number of great programs,” said Seminole County Commissioner Brenda Carey. “I congratulate them on their expansion and wish them continued success.”

“It is a pleasure to see a long-time Lake Mary company like Convergys add jobs to our region and offer opportunity to our citizens,” said Lake Mary Mayor David Mealor.

The Orlando EDC worked with Convergys to provide recruitment resources and connections to workforce organizations, like CareerSource Central Florida, that provide vital job fairs during the hiring process.

“Convergys is another big win for the Orlando region,” said CareerSource Central Florida President/CEO Pamela J. Nabors.  “We partnered with a successful company to expand within our community and create careers in one of our region’s targeted industries.  This sends a powerful message to businesses and career seekers that Central Florida merits their attention.”
