Legislative Priorities
|
The Board of Directors of the Metro Orlando EDC is committed to
supporting efforts to encourage legislation that bolsters our
economic development efforts. Before and during the Florida
Legislative Session, the EDC's Legislative Committee (LAC), made up
of lobbyists from EDC investor companies, works closely with
education, local government, and industry trade association
partners to drive home the importance of generating high-wage jobs
throughout our region and the state. The LAC helps ensure that our
state Legislators understand the programs and funding mechanisms
necessary to build and diversify Florida’s economy, creating a
world-class business location.
The Process: With input from our local, regional, and state
partners, the LAC meets in early October to review potential issues
and send a recommended Legislative Agenda to the EDC Executive
Committee. Once the agenda has been revised and approved by the
Executive Committee, it is sent to the EDC Board of Directors for
final revisions and approval. After this, the EDC and partners work
to advance the agenda.
The Issues: All issues must be regional in nature, have
consensus within our four-county region, and directly impact
economic development.
