Government Liaison

In 2004, the then-chairman of the EDC created five government relation teams, one for each of the sustaining jurisdictions served by the EDC (Orange, Seminole, Lake and Osceola counties, and the City of Orlando). The purpose of the teams is:

• to strengthen the partnership between the EDC and the government unit
• to positively affect the opportunity for mission success for the EDC
  and its government partners

The teams generally meet together once a year to plan, then throughout the year they assist the EDC in its outreach to government partners. This can take on several different forms, such as inviting commissioners to EDC events; attending one-on-one meetings with a commissioner and our CEO for an economic development update; and hosting luncheons for the commissioners.
