Business
Intelligence Internship: Daily job functions include gathering
competitive business intelligence within our targeted industry sectors,
updating internal research and studies, and assisting with various projects
as requested by the organization.
Interns will
be assigned work based on their education, experience, and interests.
Business Intelligence
internships will assist students in
developing skills in the following areas:
Research
Students will collect various types of data, conduct analysis, and
create actionable intelligence. Research topics range from economic
data, community data, industry data, and more.
Marketing
Students will turn data into marketing collateral to be used in the business
development process. Consistency in branding, content generation, and web
development are some of the areas students will be exposed to.
Information Technology
Students will gain exposure to various software tools that include
web based applications, GIS, CRM and other databases. Further,
students will also develop advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
as research is collected and analyzed. Other specific applications
include the EDC’s Customer Relationship Management System,
Google Earth, Microsoft Office Suite, shared networks, WebLOCI,
Lexis Nexis, and Crystal Reports.
Requirements: This
position is open to individuals at least 18 years of age who are currently
enrolled in college. The internship is for class credit. Monetary
compensation is not available.
The position
requires data collection, manipulation, and presentation, thus a basic
knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required. Interns must be proficient
in writing, and be able to manage projects independently to meet deadlines.
Interns must have the ability to prioritize while paying attention to
detail to ensure accuracy. Interns must have a professional attitude
and desire to learn. Professional attire must be worn. Interns should
also possess excellent internet research skills. Knowledge of other programs/software
is a plus.

Events
Internship: Intern
will work
with the Director of Events to develop, coordinate
and execute various EDC events and functions which may
include
the EDC’s
Annual Dinner, Annual Barbecue, County Updates/Receptions,
Industry Appreciation
Luncheon
and Corporate Council Mission. Interns will assist
in developing the events through event calendar site research,
selection,
inspection, event
program
research, guest list compilation, event
scheduling
and other event preparations. Interns will help to coordinate/execute
the events through billing (tickets and sponsors), RSVP
lists,
nametags, registration
lists, itineraries, mailings, scheduling
and marketing (invitations, signage, etc.), as well as
reorganize/restructure past event files.

Government
Liaison Program Internship: Intern will work with the Marketing & Communications
and Corporate Resources departments on the coordination of the EDC’s
Government Liaison Program. Daily activities may include researching and
reporting on local and state political issues as they relate to economic
development, assisting in the coordination of commissioner meetings, creating
case studies and recommendations for future action, and completing one
intern-driven project of choice.
Requirements:
This position is open to individuals at least 18 years of age who
are interested in government relations and policy and will be in
their third or fourth year of undergraduate study during the time
of the internship. The internship is for class credit. Monetary
compensation is not available.
Political science/government relations-oriented education and a minimum
of one internship already completed is preferred; strong understanding
of local and state politics; excellent research, writing, and communication
skills; creative and willing to take initiative; and 15+ hours per week.

Investor
Relations Internship: Investor Relations & Event
department who is responsible for procuring and sustaining approximately
68% of
the organization’s operating budget. Intern will be responsible
for, but not limited to:
- Assisting
staff with day to day operations, including compiling marketing collateral
for prospective investors,
mailings, schedule
appointments
and reorganize/restructure investor relations files.
- Assisting
in the preparation of reports, correspondence and marketing materials
as needed.
- Working
to maintain database of investors and prospects in the Central Florida
region.
- Assisting
staff with event coordination of executive briefings, luncheons, and
receptions managed by the Investor Relations & Events
department as a tool for Investor engagement and
involvement.
- Assisting
staff with various projects and administrative support.

International
Business Development Internship: Intern
will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Assisting
staff with research about foreign markets and the opportunities for
exports for local businesses.
- Conducting
research to support inbound and outbound
trade and investment missions.
- Assisting
in the preparation of research reports, correspondence and marketing
materials as needed.
- Helping
to coordinate itineraries for inbound delegations including
diplomatic
and corporate visitors
- Working
to maintain database of companies in the Central Florida region.

Public
Relations Internship: Intern will work directly with the
Director of Public Relations in all aspects of the organization’s
communications projects. This includes activities such as developing
news releases and media alerts, researching publicity opportunities,
developing cases studies on EDC business development projects, creating
in-depth profiles on key reporters and editors, maintaining the organization’s
clip files, writing stories for the EDC’s weekly e-Newsletter,
and many other related projects.
Requirements: This
position is open to individuals at least 18 years of age who are currently
enrolled in college. The internship is for class credit. Monetary compensation
is not available.
Public Relations
or Communications-oriented education is preferred; strong understanding
of public relations tools; strong writing and communication skills; willing
to manage projects; specifically interested in gaining “real-world” public
relations experience; a minimum of one internship already completed;
and 15+ hours per week.
